1. February 9, Sunday 3:00-5:00 PM — Book Study kickoff speaker, Dr. Terrell Carter, HEALING RACIAL DIVIDES, Broadway Christian Church, 2601 West Broadway, with fellowship meal to follow (please bring a dish to share).
|
2. February 16, Sunday at 7:00 PM — Second Missionary Baptist Church — an original adaptation of “God’s Trombone” by James Weldon Johnson will be presented by The Music and Fine Arts Ministries of Second Missionary Baptist Church. The Lincoln University Dance Troupe will be featured. (You can find previous versions on Youtube. I listened to “The Creation” and am certain my Catholic School 8th grade performed it in 1965–if you hear it, you won’t forget it).

3. March 1, Sunday at 7:30 PM at Broadway Christian Church, “The Milly Project”.” The Milly Project is a stage presentation written and performed by students of Willard High School in south-central Missouri. The Project tells the story of an enslaved woman in Green County, Missouri, who filed suit in the county court and won her freedom. The story was lost to history until an archivist discovered the handwritten trial transcript in the Green County court records. A local newspaper ‘broke’ the story, and the students took it from there.
