Please join us at Jesse Hall Auditorium at 6:30 p.m., April 22 for discussions surrounding the State vs. Derek Chauvin trial. A panel of University of Missouri law professors, community members and representatives from the Columbia Police Department will participate in the discussion.

The panelists will be Rodney Uphoff, Elwood L. Thomas Missouri Endowed Professor Emeritus of Law, Lieutenant Michael Hestir of the Columbia Police Department, Niya Young, president, Black Law Student Association, and Rev. James Gray, community leader and activist in Columbia. The panel moderator will be S. David Mitchell, Ruth L. Hulston Professor of Law and Co-Director of the Middleton Center for Race, Citizenship, and Justice.

The community is invited to engage in conversations that will allow them to gain an understanding of the prosecution and criminal processes in a safe space. Information will also be provided about the legal definitions related to the laws that are being used by the prosecuting attorney against former police officer Derek Chauvin in Minneapolis.

Panelists will be available for a Q & A session with audience members following their presentation. Participants and groups are encouraged to submit questions prior to the event to cpdforums@como.gov

Space is limited to 200 people. Please RSVP in advance by filling out the registration form or by clicking the link on the flyer.

Social distancing and masks are required upon entering the venue.

Thanks for time!
