UPDATE:   We’re ON–Don’t Miss This!

As you likely have already heard, the weather is supposed to clear up by tomorrow, but it’s forecast to be quite chilly. After discussing this (and looking at the wet forecast for next weekend) the planning committee decided that we are going ahead with the Solidarity Rally & March tomorrow, but we are significantly shortening the rally.

There will be music from Violet and all the speakers will speak, but everything will be truncated so we don’t all have to all stand around for a full hour, freezing our butts off.

So, we are asking everyone to dress warmly and be on time, so we can start at 1 sharp and hopefully be ready to march by right around 1:30. Note: We also have access to the Government Center and this will be a warming area for anyone who needs it.

We are still looking for more volunteers to help with traffic direction or holding the banner backdrop during the rally. If you can help please reply by FB message or e-mail to midmosolidarity@gmail.com Thanks!

On the third anniversary of the National Women’s March on Washington, in solidarity with this year’s march, and as part of a national effort, the Mid-Missouri Solidarity Network will be holding a rally and march in Downtown Columbia, MO.

This intersectional rally will bring together a broad cross-section of concerned progressives. Our focus will be on engagement and empowerment. It is our intention to voice our dissent in regard to the direction in which some are attempting to take our country and share a positive message for change and that we can all be a part of it!

We also are working with Operation Safe Winter to collect donations of warm clothes and other necessities for the unsheltered in our community. You can bring donations to a collection point at the rally. Please keep in mind that there are women living on the streets and consider bringing feminine care products, soap/shampoo, socks, underwear for their needs.
