Good Afternoon:

I am emailing on behalf of the Mizzou Black Men’s Initiative (MBMI) to extend an invitation to join us for the first “Ndugu” event of the year which takes place on Monday, September 28th, 2015 from 6-7pm in the Gaines/Oldham Black Culture Center (GOBCC) on the Mizzou campus.  Ndugu is Swahili for Brotherhood and the aim of the event is to strengthen ties amongst Black male undergraduates with graduate students, faculty/staff and community members.  MBMI believes that the development of these relationships is crucial in propelling these young men through their collegiate career.  Research shows that the development of supportive relationships is associated with successful college experiences for Black males.

We believe that your presence and interaction with these students will aid them throughout their collegiate journey.  Please note that business casual dress is required and refreshments will be provided. Parking is available in the GOBCC’s parking lot (CG2) and in the Virginia Ave. Parking structure just south of the GOBCC’s parking lot or the Virginia Ave.  We ask that attendee’s RSVP by Friday, September 25th, 2015 to Jonathan McElderry at mcelderryj@missouri.edu

What: Ndugu

Where: Gaines/Oldham Black Culture Center (813 Virginia Ave., Columbia, MO 65201)

When: Monday, September 28th, 2015

Time: 6:00 – 7:00 pm

We appreciate your continued support of the MBMI program and look forward to seeing you at the event. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.  Also, if you know someone that may be interested in attending, please forward this email to them.

P.S. Please forward to other colleagues or friends as you see fit!

The Minority Men’s Network has begun using our website to send out e-mail communications.

MMN Members and Friends of the Network will soon be receiving notification of UPCOMING EVENTS (Save-The-Date) posted to our website. You will be able to link to our website for more details of the events AND you will also be able to add the event(s) to your personal calendar.

MMN Members and Friends of the Network will also receive our Minority Men’s Network UPDATE in a slightly different e-mail format. We’re trying to automate the update to provide more consistent content AND to get it sent out on a more regularly scheduled basis. We’ll still feature Coming Events (including meeting notices), Recognition, Opportunities and Job Postings, and other items of interest.

Finally, a feature of both e-mail communications will be the ability to UNSUBSCRIBE directly from the e-mail. You may also SUBSCRIBE to the e-mail and if you forward the communication to others, they will also be able to subscribe.

We ask you to bear with us as we work to get the bugs out of the system and get it working just right. We appreciate your feedback and input regarding content, frequency, and usefulness of these communications. Be sure to let us know if you or your organziation have events you’d like us to include on our website calendar and in our communication.

Thank you for your support!
