The Network continues to provide a “reader” every week at 10:00am for our Reading Program with Nora Stewart Early Learning Center. It’s hard to measure the effects on our children of having MEN, especially BLACK MEN reading to them, but the Network is committed to this project. Dr. Fred Williams III has done a fantastic job of coordinating this work for us and we are soliciting ADDITIONAL men to help us in trying to have an impact on these children. It only takes about 20 minutes, it’s a lot of fun, the kids are great and they really enjoy your being there. We guarantee it will put a smile on your face!

For questions and/or to participate, please e-mail Dr. Williams at: williamsfre@missouri.edu

Greetings,
For His Glory, Incorporated is a community based not for profit organization with the mission of ” Working together in the community with youth and their families”. We serve as volunteers to provide academic support programs, enrichment activities and mentoring for youth and their families in Columbia. I have served as its Executive Director for 10 years.

For His Glory is 15 years old, the academic support program (Grade A!) has been at its Second Baptist Church site for 10 years, and the Worship Arts and Dance Academy program has been at its site at the Blind Boone Community Center for 14 years. As of June 2015, we’ve obtained our first office site. You’ll hear more about that in the future.

Please share the attached flyer and help us to find volunteers that might be interested in serving on the Board of Directors, volunteering with the Program or Funding Development committees, getting involved as a tutor or mentor, or maybe making a contribution through the many opportunities that will be available between now and Dec. 31st.

Please see the Heart of Missouri United Way (HMUW) announcement and website about how you can make a contribution to help us this Friday, Aug. 28th, 2015 between 7:00-10:00 a.m. Stop by the Shelter Insurance Training Center (use the Shelter driveway) and without getting out of your car, you can drop requested items in the For His Glory Donation Barrel. The barrels will be located at the front near the fountain.

We’ve asked for: printer paper, HP950XL Black and HP951 Tri Color Printer Ink, non perishable food items to be used in our after school nutrition program, gasoline gift cards to keep our van rolling, and gift cards of $10-$15 increments that can be given as awards each Dec. and April to students who are succeeding and excelling in school and in our programs. These kind of donations will help us tremendously in serving youth and families in our programs.

With much appreciation for all the support we have received in the past, we say Thank you. Please forward this to others that might be interested in responding to this call as well.

Sincerely,

Rev. Janice Dawson-Threat, Ph.D.
